An all-girls FIRST® team from Afghanistan, “Afghan Dreamers,” captivated the world with their passion for using STEM to make change. Their story is one of suspense, inspiration, and awe, and soon you can see it for yourself in the new feature film called “Rule Breakers.”

#PeopleofSTEAM: Meet Ella

Ella is a FIRST alum, current undergraduate student at Willamette University, and a NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Ernest F. Hollings Scholar. In the summer of 2024, Ella joined the science team of the E/V Nautilus, a research vessel studying a deep sea volcano in American Samoa. 

Ella credits her FIRST experience for empowering her to explore a career in the field of ocean exploration and conservation.
