U.S. Department of Defense Continues to Support FIRST

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), a longtime supporter of FIRST, recently launched the Defense STEM Education Consortium (DSEC) to strengthen kindergarten through college STEM education and outreach programs across the United States. FIRST will administer DSEC grants to more than 1,000 FIRST® LEGO® League Jr., FIRST® LEGO® League, FIRST® Tech Challenge, and FIRST® Robotics Competition teams mentored by DoD employees, reaching thousands of K-12 students through the funds.

FIRST Alum Becomes a Disney Imagineer

FIRST alum and mentor Emily Chu fell in love with robotics when she attended FIRST Championship as a six-year-old spectator. The recent Yale graduate, who studied mechanical engineering and geophysics, is now beginning her “dream job” as a Disney Imagineer, working in research and development for Disney theme parks.
