Christa McAuliffe coin bill signed into law

On Wednesday, October 9, U.S. President Donald Trump signed into law a bill instructing the U.S. Treasury to mint and issue up to 350,000 commemorative coins honoring Christa McAuliffe. The coin will honor Christa’s legacy not just by celebrating her life and service, but by designating additional funds to FIRST. The coins will be minted in 2021, the 35th anniversary of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.

Legally blind FIRST alum pursues engineering career

The Boston Globe recently profiled FIRST alum Jack Duffy-Protentis, who is legally blind. Encouraged by the community and teamwork he experienced on FIRST Robotics Competition Team 4176 “Iron Tigers,” Jack is now excelling as an engineering student at FIRST Scholarship Provider Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
