“More Than Robots” Premieres Next Week

After premiering at the SXSW Film Festival next week, “More Than Robots,” an original documentary by actress and director Gillian Jacobs, begins streaming Friday, March 18 on Disney+. The feature length movie captures the excitement, heart, and hope of the FIRST® experience through the journeys of four FIRST® Robotics Competition teams and interviews with FIRST founder Dean Kamen. Libyan Teams Promote Gender Equality

In celebration of International Women’s Day, a global day founded in 1911 and marked annually on March 8 to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, we’re celebrating inspiring women and girls in the FIRST community. Team LYBOTICS Change, the first all-girls FIRST Tech Challenge team in Libya, is part of a community of teams in Libya helping change perceptions around girls and women in STEM despite staggering civil unrest in their country.

Build the Future Spotlight: WHS Robotics

FIRST® Tech Challenge Team 542 “WHS Robotics” is committed to fostering a new generation of children and leveling the playing field when it comes to STEM. Since 2018, the team has run a program called Science-in-a-Box, creating and shipping more than 350 custom DIY science kits with complementary lessons to local community centers to support future generations of learners in Southern California. With Disney and Lucasfilm, we’re sharing their story as part of our Build the Future powered by Star Wars: Force for Change initiative.
