Global Innovation Awards - 2021

FIRST® empowers young people to be catalysts for change. Through FIRST®  programs, students ages 9-18 explore what it means to be an innovator, finding solutions for today’s societal problems to impact the world for generations to come.
This year, Star Wars: Force for Change has teamed up with FIRST to inspire and celebrate the next generation of heroes, entrepreneurs, and innovators who will change the future through the 2021 FIRST Global Innovation Awards. The awards are open to FIRST Robotics Competition, FIRST Tech Challenge, and FIRST LEGO League teams in more than 110 countries. 20 finalist teams from each program will participate in remote workshops designed to develop knowledge and skill sets, have individualized mentorship, and more. Within each program, top selected teams will receive exclusive prizing from sponsors. Awards will be announced live on FIRSTtv in front of a global audience of peers, sponsors, and industry leaders.

FIRST has helped me become a better innovator, think outside the box, and not to be scared to tackle problems like scientists and engineers have been trying to solve for years. It doesn’t matter if people think your solution is too weird or too different to work. When you show you can fix a problem in a new way, they will understand. The fact that it was different is what made it successful.”
