Episode 2 of Galactic Builders available now: Behind the creation of BB-8: In just-released episode 2 of Galactic Builders, powered by Star Wars: Force for Change, FIRST students from FIRST® LEGO® League team “Thunderbots” (Sacramento, CA) and FIRST® Robotics Competition team “Citrus Circuits” (David, CA) go behind-the-scenes at Lucasfilm headquarters to learn what it takes to build and operate a droid from BB-8 creator, engineer, and robotics expert Matt Denton.

FIRST Tech Challenge students are changing the world – help the change-maker on your team further their potential and nominate them for the Dean’s List Award.

The Dean’s List Award recognizes the leaders and ambassadors from each FIRST Tech Challenge team. This recognition helps these inspiring students attract recruiters and stand out on their college applications and resumes.

Read the nomination guide to start yours today. Please note that only students in grades 10 and 11 are eligible. To nominate a student, log into your Dashboard at www.firstinspires.org, click "Certificates and Awards" under Team Options, and select "FTC Dean's List Awards Submissions".

Updates to FIRST Gift Acceptance Policy: FIRST will accept donations intended to support a specific FIRST team’s registration fees or other costs associated with participating in FIRST programs only, subject to the following requirements: 

  • The minimum donation on behalf of a specific FIRST Team is $99 per gift
  • Matching gifts will be applied to specific FIRST teams only if FIRST has an agreement and process in place with the source of the matching funds to do so 
  • Gifts and remainders of gifts accepted on behalf of a specific FIRST Team that are not utilized by the specific FIRST team at the end of each FIRST fiscal year will become unrestricted gifts to FIRST
