The 2019 FIRST® Robotics Competition Kickoff is this Saturday, January 5, 2019! We have some important details concerning the DESTINATION: DEEP SPACE Presented by The Boeing Company Kickoff and season to share with you:
  • Friday, January 4 at 6:30 P.M. Eastern Time: Tour Dean’s home with hosts Libby Kamen and Deejay Knight. Tune in to our Twitch channel to follow along!
  • Saturday, January 5 at 10 A.M. Eastern Time: The Kickoff Broadcast will begin at 10:30 A.M. Eastern Time. The pre-show starts at 10 A.M. During the pre-show you can get settled and make sure your connection is working before the big show begins at 10:30 A.M. If your team is not able to attend a local Kickoff, you can stream the Kickoff Broadcast through Twitch. Please visit the Kickoff Broadcast page before Saturday to make sure that you will be able to access the live stream and troubleshoot any issues ahead of time. Here is the Kickoff broadcast schedule:
    • 10 A.M. ET: Pre-show.
    • 10:30 A.M. ET: Main Show.
    • 11:15 A.M. ET (Approximately): Deeper Space. We answer your questions about the field live through the Twitch chat. Important note: we will not answer ‘rules’ questions about the game. Please read the Game & Season Manual carefully then submit any remaining rules questions you have to the Q&A when it opens Wednesday, January 9 at 12 P.M. Eastern Time.
    • 12:00 P.M. ET (Approximately): Broadcast ends.
  • Sunday, January 6 at 3 P.M. ET: Kitbot Build Show with host Deejay Knight and special guests! Follow along as Deejay builds the 2019 AndyMark Drive Base Kit and gets it programmed! This show is also on our Twitch channel.
  • **TIME SENSITIVE** Don’t forget to take inventory of your Kickoff Kit! After receiving your Kickoff Kit, please check all items to determine if parts are missing or damaged. If so, you can let us know by 12 P.M. (noon) Eastern Time on Friday, January 11, and we’ll ship replacements. This is a time-limited, one-time-only opportunity. Details on how to complete the missing parts process are here.
  • The encrypted Game Manual as well as other important documents for the season have been posted on the Game and Season page. The Encryption code will be available on Saturday, January 5 at the end of the Kickoff broadcast. You may want to download those documents now so you will be ready when the time comes! Team Support Available on Kickoff Day: Team Support will be available on Saturday, January 5 from 9 A.M. to 12 P.M. Eastern Time. For assistance, please call 1-800-871-8326 ext. 0. 
Don’t forget about Awards during the build season! Make sure your team is aware of award submission deadlines as they arrive. Be sure to check the Awards page for submission details and deadlines. Keep up to date with all important season deadlines by visiting the Season Calendar throughout the year.
Safety: As the build season is about to begin, please keep safety in mind and follow the 2019 Safety Manual, posted here.
Championship Conference Opportunity: Would you like to present at our FIRST® Championship Conferences?  We’re looking for presentations of technical and non-technical topics, including:
  • Technical Resources
  • Mentor/Coach/Volunteer Resources
  • Scholarship & Alumni
  • Education
  • Diversity & Inclusion
  • Innovation & Entrepreneurship
A session (50 minutes in length) covers one topic in depth. Workshops (110 minutes in length) cover topics and skills that are important the FIRST community - recent changes, new approaches, and timely content - and also provide substantive training and opportunities. Submit your idea on or before Friday, January 11, 2019. Please note that travel and accommodations will not be provided by FIRST.
