Hi Friend,

Coming to you from FIRST® LEGO® League in Manchester, NH, USA.

WHAT EVERYONE’S TALKING ABOUT

Team Meeting Guides and Engineering Notebooks
As you probably have noticed, there are some discrepancies between the Team Meeting Guides and Engineering Notebooks you received with your Challenge materials or will receive shortly. This is an unfortunate error in our printing process, and we apologize for the confusion. We do have a solution that we believe makes it as easy as possible for you to move ahead with your team and make the most of the new guided program materials:

  • The Team Meeting Guides contain the specifics needed to score in a competitive event.
  • The Engineering Notebook is missing some Robot Game specifics and additional EV3 guidance.
  • You can find the scoring specifics of the Robot Game in the Game Guide here
  • As always, continue to check for the latest Robot Game updates here
  • Additional recommended EV3 guidance can be found here
If you have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to firstlegoleague@firstinspires.org.  We want to ensure that every team has an excellent experience this season.

Again, we apologize for this mistake. It just goes to show that the problem-solving skills the kids are developing come in handy in the workplace.

Challenge Update and Building Instructions

Are your lead coaches screened? FIRST requires teams to have two screened lead coaches to be eligible to register for official FIRST events. Don’t delay and risk your team missing out on the fun!

To order your background screening visit our www.firstinspires.org website to log into your FIRST Dashboard; select the white triangle next to “Hello, (your name)” in the upper right-hand corner, and select Youth Protection Screening from the list.  Ordering takes less than five minutes, your Social Security Number is not required, and the cost is covered by FIRST. CELEBRATION AND SHOUT OUTS
Shoutout 8.23.19
Team #44406, The Techno Tigresses from North Carolina, USA kicked off their CITY SHAPERSM season with a visit to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. As the only all-girls team in their county, they spoke with female pilots about their jobs and how and why girls should pursue their interests in STEM. The team also learned how the Air Force uses robots, and they were able to practice their robot driving skills when personnel set up several obstacle courses for the team.
