WHAT EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT

FIRST® Championship
We’re counting down the days until #FIRSTChamp Houston and Detroit and can’t wait to see the teams attending! Not coming? Join us virtually as we broadcast the event live on FIRSTtv and make sure to tune in on Wednesday, April 17 at 2 p.m. CT for a sneak peek of the 2019-2020 Challenge Set!

Information about all things Championship can be found on the FIRST Championship website.

Biweekly team email blasts will resume after the Championship festivities on Friday, May 3.

FIRST LEGO League Program Update
We have been working hard to make FIRST LEGO League more accessible and easier to understand so more teams can benefit from the amazing experience the program provides.

Therefore, next season you can expect a guided experience with new resources to support your journey through the program. These new materials include a Team Meeting Guide for the coach/teacher and an Engineering Notebook for each student. All new resources will be available when the Challenge releases on August 1.

Welcome, SPIKETM Prime!
This week, LEGO® Education announced a new product called SPIKE Prime. Specially designed to engage students in the engineering design process, thinking critically, analyzing data and solving complex problems with real-world relevance, SPIKE Prime is the first LEGO Education product to include a Competitions Unit featuring FIRST LEGO League as part of the lesson plans. It also boasts Scratch-based block-coding, a classroom-friendly app, innovative new pieces which bridge both the Technic and LEGO brick system building platforms and detailed support materials. With this quick-start solution, whole classes of students can create SMART inventions and program them to move within 15 – 20 minutes keeping young people engaged and developing their skills rapidly.

Mindstorms EV3, NXT, and RCX will continue to be allowed in FIRST LEGO League with SPIKE Prime sitting alongside these products – not replacing them. Check out SPIKE Prime in action here. The product is available to pre-order and will be ready for delivery in time to use in the 2019-2020 FIRST LEGO League season.

We look forward to a new and exciting FIRST LEGO League season - registration will open in May and we’ll be sharing additional details soon.
