FIRST® Teams are Building a Better Future

FIRST® is a global robotics community of students, parents, educators, afterschool providers, and volunteers working to increase access to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programming for all students. 

Through a suite of PreK-12 programs and the Build the Future powered by Star Wars: Force for Change initiative, students are empowered to not only think big, but to develop the skills needed to become tomorrow’s heroes, innovators, and forces for good. FIRST students are working together to create personal protection equipment for all, increase equitable access to STEM, develop adaptive devices for community members, and build an inclusive future where all can thrive.

Spouting Social Impact Through
a Global Water Initiative

As part of our FIRST® LEGO® League project, we founded the nonprofit We Give Water in partnership with the UK-based eWaterPay to help address the global problem of clean water accessibility. To date, we’ve raised $55,000 to fund 40 sustainable water systems in The Gambia, which has given clean water access to an estimated 20,000+ people.Read More

More Than Robots on Disney+

More Than Robots follows four teams of teenagers from around the world as they prepare for the 2020 FIRST® Robotics Competition.

Get to know teams from Los Angeles, Mexico City and Chiba, Japan as they work towards the goal of taking their unique designs all the way to the highly competitive global championships. Although they are faced with overcoming challenges along the way, such as having limited resources within their community or putting everything on hold because of a world-wide pandemic, the kids persevere and learn that there is a lot more to the competition than just robots.

FIRST is the leading youth-serving nonprofit advancing STEM education and prepares young people for the future through a suite of engaging, hands-on robotics programs for PreK-12 (ages 4-18). Participants are developing the skills necessary to become the next generation of innovators, technology leaders, creative problem solvers, and forces for good in the world.
