2017 FIRST® Championship Brings Double the Fun

More than 60,000 people attended the 2017 FIRST® Championship Presented by Qualcomm Incorporated, held for the first time across two cities, Houston and St. Louis. It brought together 30,000 students on 1,400 teams from 62 countries and not to mention more than 1,300 robots – for the world's largest celebration of STEM education.

2017 Crown Suppliers Enable Young Innovators

For the 2017 FIRST STEAMWORKS℠ game, the FIRST® Robotics Competition Crown Suppliers helped put the WORKS in STEAMWORKS with in-kind contributions of more than $250,000 worth of goods and services used for the Kit of Parts and/or the playing field. FIRST asked Crown Suppliers to share why they support FIRST.

When Ashton Cofer, 14, delivered a TED Talk during Ted-Ed Weekend, the accomplished innovator shared a lesson he learned from nearly a decade of watching and participating in FIRST® LEGO® League: “You can’t have success without failure.” Ashton’s inspiring video has received more than 700,000 views.
