5 Ways to Bring Robotics to Community Organizations
Community organizations like the YMCA, Girl Scouts, and 4-H can expand STEM opportunities for young people who may not have the resources otherwise. The FIRST® STEM Equity Community Innovation Grant initiative has identified five strategies that can help any youth-serving organization succeed in starting and sustaining successful robotics programs with any funding source.
Volunteer Finds Inspiration in Robotics Movement
As a referee at a FIRST® Tech Challenge event, Rob Fyfe, a FIRST alum and engineer at FIRST Strategic Partner Bechtel, was inspired by “Nerdy Girls” – a grassroots robotics movement to engage girls in STEM.
8th Annual U.S. Air Force/FIRST Leadership Experience
The eighth annual U.S. Air Force/FIRST Leadership Experience provides FIRST mentors with a three-day, hands-on leadership training taught by Air Force personnel. K-12 teachers who are FIRST®Tech Challenge or FIRST®Robotics Competition mentors can apply through Friday, May 24.
