- Booked Flights
- Planned transportation upon arrival and during event
Hello Team !
Every email we send includes a checklist of what you and your team has hopefully accomplished. If you need assistance, please reach out to us here at FIRST® and we will work with you to make sure you are all set. Today, we wanted to cover:
Transportation within the City
As a reminder, no transportation is provided by FIRST. Teams should coordinate their travel plans in the city before arriving. This may be renting car, or navigating the local public transportation. Should you choose to drive, please expect to pay for parking each day near each venue, and remember that it is on a first come first serve basis. Many hotels also have an additional fee for parking overnight.
We’re only weeks away - now is the time to book your
FIRST® Championship travel and get the best picks before they’re gone! Book your discounted hotel, car rental, ground transportation and airfare with
FIRST. When you book through
FIRST, you’ll be booking secure and safe travel that’s been vetted by us at the best price. For more information, check out Championship Travel Discount webpage
here. Don’t delay!
Robot Transportation
Teams will be traveling by car, train, and plane when arriving to the World Championship. When traveling, make sure to appropriately pack your robot to help prevent any unnecessary damage in route. When traveling, remove the battery, wheels, and any extension arms that can be detached. Make sure to pack phones and batteries in either bubble wrap or extra packing material to prevent any cracks. Tie down wires and/or remove them and pack them separately.
Eating at Worlds
World Championship is a four-day event that begins each day around 8:00 A.M. and ends mid-afternoon. To ensure that our FIRST® Tech Challenge teams are properly fueled, we will be having 2-hour lunches to allow teams to go off-campus for their meals. Food is sold in the venue, but think ballpark food in terms of the type.
No outside food is allowed in the venue. The long lunch breaks are to allow teams the time to go offsite, back to their hotels, or enjoy the space outside of the venue. Consider locating the nearest grocery store upon your arrival when looking at food options, booking hotels that provide free breakfast, and/or researching ahead of time restaurants that can accommodate the dietary needs of your team. Remember, there are over 40,000 people who attend our event. When looking at restaurants, check to see if they take reservations or consider take out options.
