Hello Friend,

Week one of the 2017 FIRST® Robotics Competition event season is here! As you make preparations for your event(s), we ask that you keep the following in mind:
  • Team rosters and consent and release forms: All teams must hand in their team roster and any paper-copy consent and release forms when checking-in at their event. Teams must turn in their roster and paper-copy consent and release forms at every competition event they attend. Even if none of your team members completed an electronic consent and release form, you must still print out your Team Roster from your team registration account and handwrite the names of those who have completed paper-copies.
  • Don’t forget your safety glasses!  As most of you know, everyone is required to wear safety glasses at all times in the Pit area.  When you are packing up to go to your event(s), please remember to pack safety glasses for every student and mentor who will be in the Pit area.  FIRST® has only a limited supply of extra safety glasses on hand to lend, so we appreciate your efforts to supply enough safety glasses for your entire team! Make sure that your glasses are NSI-approved, UL Listed, CE EN166 rated, AS/NZS, or CSA rated non-shaded safety glasses.
  • Respect boundaries in the Pit area!  Please be respectful of fellow teams by being aware of how much space your team is using in the Pit area. Each team is usually allocated a 10’x10’x10’ Pit space.  Please be conscious of how much space your team is using in order to allow adequate workspace for your neighboring teams, and to ensure overall safety for everyone.  We appreciate your Gracious Professionalism®!
  • Extended Team Support Hours: Team Support will be available on Saturdays during competition event weeks from 12:00-5:00 pm Eastern Time. For assistance, please call 1-800-871-8326 x 0.
Don’t let anyone miss out on the fun: Invite friends, family, Mentors, or anyone who will not be able to attend an event to watch the live stream. This season, FIRST is piloting a program with Twitch to bring a more standardized webcast set up to designated official events. To learn more and see a list of covered events, please visit: http://firstinspires.org/robotics/frc/blog/2017-consistent-webcast-event-carefuls.

Championship Qualification: Please visit Section 10 of the Game and Season Manual: https://firstfrc.blob.core.windows.net/frc2017/Manual/Sections/10-Tournaments.pdf for information about Championship qualifying criteria.

Championship Registration Process: If a team qualifies at an event to attend the 2017 FIRST® Championship, they will automatically be registered for the 2017 FIRST Championship on the Monday following their competition.

On or before Wednesday at 5:00 pm Eastern Time following their qualifying event, teams must call FIRST Finance to secure payment for registration at the following number: 1-800-871-8326 ext. 563. Teams may also contact Finance via email at AR@firstinspires.org or fax at 603-206-2079.  Payments can be secured via check, credit card, purchase order from school, or commitment letter from corporate sponsor. One of these forms must be received by the Wednesday following the qualifying event by 5:00 pm Eastern Time.

IMPORTANT- If your team does not register by the Wednesday deadline, your team will be removed from registered status and will be ineligible to register for the FIRST Championship (Spots will not be held past the Wednesday deadline!). If your team qualifies at another event or is selected from the Championship wait list, you would be eligible to register for the Championship again under that qualification.
Robot Transportation to the Championship: All qualifying teams MUST ship their robot to the Championship event. FIRST will provide teams with their shipping documents following their qualifying event. Teams should make arrangements to ship their robot immediately after receiving their shipping documents. Please note: teams that have already received a Robot Transport Exemption do not qualify for a donated FedEx Bill of lading to Championship.

DO NOT ship your robot to the Championship unless you qualify at your regional event! Any team that ships their robot to the Championship without being registered to attend will be responsible for all associated shipping costs.
